What is KYBELLA®?
KYBELLA® is a prescription medicine used by adults to improve the appearance and profile of moderate to severe fat below the chin (submental fat), also called “double chin.” Deoxycholic acid is a naturally occurring molecule in the body that aids in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat. When injected into the fat beneath the chin, KYBELLA® destroys fat cells, resulting in a noticeable reduction of fullness under the chin.

What can you expect before and after treatment?
- Before the procedure, your healthcare provider will mark the injection sites with a marker and administer a topical numbing agent to ease any pain or discomfort.
- Usually 20 to 30, and up to 50, injections are used under the chin. The acid then works gradually to kill fat cells, which are metabolized by the body over the following weeks.
- Swelling, bruising and numbness may occur in the treatment area and can last up to several weeks.
- The number of treatment sessions necessary varies for each person. Multiple treatments may be necessary to reach optimal results.
- You can receive multiple KYBELLA ® treatments, with at least one month between each session.
