What are wrinkle relaxers?
Repeated muscle contractions from frowning, squinting or raising eyebrows cause skin to furrow and fold, gradually resulting in the formation of facial lines. Botox® and Dysport® work beneath the surface and temporarily reduce the underlying muscle activity that causes moderate to severe frown lines, “crow’s feet” and forehead lines to help them look visibly smoother.
What can you expect before and after treatment?
- Some patients receiving Botox® or Dysport® report the injections feel like a pinch.
- Some patients experience mild bruising and swelling, but these are temporary and should subside over a few days following the treatment.
- You will begin to notice visible smoothing of frown lines, “crow’s feet” and forehead lines within 24 to 48 hours, with results lasting up to four months for moderate to severe frown lines.
- Botox® is not a permanent treatment. If you discontinue treatment, the moderate to severe frown lines, crow’s feet and forehead lines will gradually return.
